Mike Bibby & One Liners
-

It’s been a while, but, if you were a Kings fan back in the early 2000’s, I’m sure you’ll remember the exchange between Kings point guard Mike Bibby and TNT Analyst Charles Barkley.
For those in need of a quick refresher, Bibby was a guest on TNT’s postgame show after a Kings victory and was interviewed by the panel.
Before Barkley got around to his question, he made sure to slide one more notorious dig into the Kings, telling Bibby, "I like ya’ll, I really do, but, ya’ll aint gonna win a Championship…ya’ll don’t have what it takes". Now, of course…one of the few knocks on Barkley is his own lack of a Championship.
So, without hesitation, Bibby quickly replied "and how would you know about winning Championships, Chuck"…to which the host sat dumbfounded, shocked, and soon became ridiculed by his colleagues.
So - moving onto last night, as Bibby and his Atlanta Hawks ended the Miami Heat’s season in Game 7, there was quite a funny exchange on the sideline before halftime during a timeout.
With 10.9 seconds left in the 1st half, Bibby passed to a wide open Josh Smith in the corner, which resulted in a badly missed 3 point attempt. During the following stoppage in play, Atlanta coach Mike Woodson glared Bibby down, and soon roasted him for passing to Smith.
Never one to back down, Bibby quickly lashed back at Woodson
"If you don’t want me to throw to him put him somewhere else,” Bibby shouted. “He’s wide [@*&$%] open. Wide open. What do you want me to do? If you don’t want him shooting that then put him somewhere else. You tell him.”
Woodson stopped. He smiled. Patted Bibby…and walked away.
Woodson said after the game that it was the first time he’d seen Bibby with that much fire, which resulted in his quick smile…and that he was thrilled to see his point guard playing with that much passion.
