Sorry guys....had to be done
The games have actually been really exciting, but, I can't find a team to pull for. Everybody has an irritating issue, be it asshat players or recent winners. lol

No problem. I just wanted this thread up and running again.
So we have three Game 5's to look forward to now.
Tomorrow night's matchup: Tigers @ Yankees. Fister vs Nova. That's a wild-card pitching matchup. Also, I hear Sabathia will be available while Verlander won't.
Didn't Sabathia work on short rest the other night? Goodness.

Yes. Because of the rain delay, Sabathia pitched two innings on Friday, then started fresh for 5.1 innings on Monday.
Interesting that Verlander won't be available.

These posts counts are from a different board, and none of the threads below work anymore, but whatever. These are regular season threads only, didn't keep track of playoffs post counts.
Sometimes the playoffs were in the same thread, anyways.

"Show Signature" was checked.
It was also correspondingly checked when making this post right here.
I guess that's one way all users can control whether they want it by default. Good feature.

Teixera walks. 3-2.

As much as I want Detroit to win, I think extra innings would be cool in this situation, even if DET ends up losing.
Swing and a miss! End of 7. 3-2 Detroit.

Bottom 8th now. *Fastens seatbelt again*.
I'm keeping an eye on the clock too because NYY seems to win so many playoff games past midnight, at home. So it's about 45 minutes until midnight on the East coast. Could this be a 10 or 11 inning win for them?
I like how the two tags for this thread are: MLB, and choke. LOL

Too bad I can't mail you those, either, because that's not something you can send in the mail. I can always mail babka though (and in fact I'm going to mail someone babka soon -- at no cost).
I'd ask around at local bagel shops. Call them. But, if you remember my post, the bagel shops didn't make great ones.
It was the Jewish Bakery, and then the Jewish deli, that made the best ones.
Heck, if you wanted, I could make a thread on a food board I frequent, and ask where I can find one in Des Moines. They have the board regionalized too. That's how I got suggestions for my own quest.

I asked this question too before. It turns out they retired the number in 1996? And Rivera made his debut in 1995 i think, so they let him keep the number since he already wore it before they officially retired the number.

I didn't think 3 runs was enough to win this game. Wow. Yankees seemed to have a man on in every inning, but Detroit really limited the damage. It never got out of control, or even close to out of control. Yankees had their opportunities, all the chances with 2 on, or bases loaded....Tigers just had superior clutch pitching.
Congratulations to Detroit!
WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Halladay had his no-hitter last year on this date. I want to see how he performs in a clutch situation like this. You can't go wrong with Carpenter either but I'd go with watching Halladay.
The other matchup is good too. I'd say Ian Kennedy. He's had a great year but so many people don't know about this. This could be a coming out party for him, and what a huge deal it would be if ARZ could come back to win the series, in Milwaukee.
If you put Ryan Roberts and Jose Valverde in a blender, you'd get Nyger Morgan.

Chris Young with one of the catchers of the year to preserve the game - and then it's promptly followed by an RBI single by next years Giants SS (:|). Punch to the gut for AZ.
Good lord Axford - don't blow this.
Axford needs a miracle to save this one.
lol safety squeeze. Brewers botch that completely up, Fielder and Axford collide trying to go for ball. Blown save. Brewers now in danger of losing the game, nobody out, runners on 1st and 2nd.

What a pair of great games tonight. Both games decided by 1 run.
Both SPs in the STL-PHI game got big outs.
1st game was fun too, because of extra innings. Braun keeps on getting hits. Ian Kennedy was very good today.

Yeah, game threads might be a good idea.
Also, Valverde implosion.
Here's my take on what works for these multi-day tournaments.
NBA Playoffs: New thread for every series.
NCAA March Madness: One thread for the tourney, then a separate thread for the championship game.
World Cup: One thread for the tourney, then a separate thread for the Finals.
Tennis grand slams: One thread for the two week tourney.
MLB playoffs: One thread for the tourney, sometimes a separate thread for the world series.
IMO, having a separate thread for every game creates too much clutter. Also, there's some games where only 1 or 2 posters post in. So they're going to have low post counts. And then some people will just look at those low post counts, and feel like it's not worth commenting on, even the next day.
For example, for Sunday's STL-MIL game, there were only 6 posts. If there were a separate thread for that, it would look kind of bad, like people weren't interested. There would be too much clutter with some threads with low post counts.
Today, there were zero posts.
Also, for these multi day tourneys, not everyone has time to follow everyday. But they can just go to the last page, and read the previous day's posts, for a recap of what's happened lately.
Also, for GoKings2010 specifically: He just joined today, so he's not going to be caught up. He's also a hit-and-run poster, so these threads are probably not his style most of the time.
I think other posters, who do follow these threads almost every day, can follow along more comfortably.
Sir Harry

Things are slow right now, so it's a non issue, but when the forums get very busy you will find it is better to organize threads.
When facing a 25 page thread newer users tend to pass on going thru it

Ok, agree. If it got to that point, then yes, we would split it up more.
25 pages over a 3-4 week thread is too much.
That would be a better total for a season long one, like a year-long MLB regular season one.
Things get too jumbled up for me in one long thread with multiple themes/topics/games usually, so I just end up ignoring them eventually. lol
nuraman00

Things get too jumbled up for me in one long thread with multiple themes/topics/games usually, so I just end up ignoring them eventually. lol
I kind of like the randomness of those threads, haha. Especially when one thing flows to another, then you look back a few trains of thought, and wonder how they got there.
But I'm the type that reads almost every post, even if I'm never going to comment in those threads. For example, there's a few topics that I don't know much about, nor do I have the time to follow. BUT, I do enjoying reading what other posters have to say about those topics, just because I like reading their thought process. Or it gives me a better glimpse of their personality.
So half of my interest in other posters, and why I bump a lot of their old posts, is because I just like reading their thoughts on it. I rarely bump my own posts, mostly only others, lol.
There have been some funny ones though. In a thread titled "A new prediction's game", boarder2005 predicted Evans would average 9 points and some assists. I found it a year later, after Evans was the rookie of the year, and had 0 replies. That was just great timing though.
Most of the times when I bump something, it's simply because it's a good read. For example I bumped a particular IowaSacKing93 post at least 4-5 times. He described how he went to a Milwaukee Bucks game, and when some people handed him a Packers cheese head, he burned it the next day, because he hates the Packers.
