Breaking News: Cousins says he gained weight

In an interview after training camp he said he ate all types of fried food, fried chicken, pizza, gummy warms, etc. I really hope he was just kidding here. He said he gained 30-40 pounds. He said he weights 340.
To me this is just shocking...I hope it doesn't affect his game-play this season.:pray:

I take the same approach with weight changes, whether positive or negative.

There are 3 training camp stories I see every year. Every team prints out the same story in a press release.

1. Player A has lost 20 pounds! He is now faster than a cheetah!

2. Player B has gained 20 pounds! Look how tough he is now.

3. Player C is shooting 68% on practice 3-point shots! He will burn the nets down!

With respect to # 1 and 2, even those positive weight changes don't affect how the players play the game.

With respect to # 3, that's why it's practice. It rarely translates once the regular season starts, whether it's an All-Star that has allegedly improved his 3-point %, or a promising bench player.

So, regardless of Cousins diet, it doesn't change how he plays. He will still play physical and be able to make his moves. Also, since he's a big man, he doesn't need as much lateral quickness on defense as a guard would.

The only area this may affect him is conditioning, but I still think he'll be ok once the regular season starts. As I said, I believe more in skill, not weight changes (whether good or bad).
