It looked as if Sacramento had moved on from center Samuel Dalembert. But Dalembert said Tuesday night he anticipates re-signing with the Kings.

"If things work out, everything structurally (with the contact), it will be Sacramento," Dalembert said in a phone interview with FOX Sports Florida from his Boca Raton, Fla., home. "It's close."

Sacramento had apparently decided to go another direction at center when the Kings last week signed Chuck Hayes to a four-year, $21 million. But Hayes failed a physical due to a heart condition earlier this week and his contract was voided.

The Kings then turned back to Dalembert, who averaged 8.1 points and 8.2 rebounds for them last season while making $13.43 million.

"There are no hard feelings," said Dalembert. "I think we can do something exciting. Last season, it seemed we were getting the excitement back in the city."

It looks like a one year signing to me at under 10Mils. Just about right if it happens. He is badly needed on defense.

Where else does Dalembert have to go?

I'd offer him 7 and tell him to shove it. I've soured on him.

So he signed for 2 years, $14M (if the team option is picked up)? Isn't that the same thing the Kings offered him?

Less than that - they said the second year is 6.5 now I believe. Kings offered him more as a couple people like Amick and Wojo said Kings offered him the most lucrative contract TWICE but he opted to play elsewhere.

When's the last time you've ever heard any GM, let alone Petrie release a press statement saying they pulled their offer to a player? Dalembert pretty much used the Kings for leverage - Geoff was pissed. I can't ever recall a team releasing a press release saying they pulled their offer, let alone Geoff who's as close to the vest as any GM in the league.

It was with Wells, but according to Wells, he never knew there was an offer because his agent never told him. His agent was trying to get a better offer before alerting Wells, allegedly.

Anyways, Kings need to focus on getting the best remaining players.

We would never know what really transpire between the agent and Petrie. One thing for sure he got Kwame money with the Rockets not what was expected. Sammy had similar number than Chandler ....but no ring. They are both overrated anyway ( just like most 7 footers)
The Kings have to refocus and go after Hayes who, now just found out, has noo heart ailment according to the Cleveland Clinic. Wonder who is the Kings doctor who made the last medical evaluation...hope not the Michael Jackson's MD. What now?

My guess is Dalembert thought he was worth WAY more than he was. He saw nobody was going to pay him that. Saw that all his cheap options (Miami, Dallas) were shot, so he told the Rockets what he wanted - they said no - he said he was going back to Sacramento, Rockets ponied up the extra funds and ta-da.

Sam didn't want to play in Sacramento, obviously - which I get. It's a closer flight to Haiti, it's not a logjam for time, and they're a better team (right now).
