Question: When inside the last 2 minutes of the quarter, are fouls reset? Or do you need to reach a certain amount to be in the bonus (for example, 3 fouls in the last 2 minutes or something)..

It's like this. If team A commits 5 fouls, then anytime they foul after that, team B will shoot FTs.
But, if team A isn't "in the bonus" within two minutes, then they only have 1 more non-shooting foul.
So let's use an extreme example. Team A has committed 0 fouls, and there's 2 minutes left in the quarter. Then, they only have one foul they can use in which team B won't shoot FTs. That's also called the "foul to give".
After that foul, then team B will shoot FTs every time.
So, sometimes with 5 seconds left in the quarter, team A will still have that "foul to give". They can use it to run 2 seconds off, then use their foul, thus giving team B less time to run their inbounds play. And them fouling team B won't result in FTs, it will just result in team B taking it out of bounds again.

Or, I refer to his last name as what every male's favorite body part is.

Thanks. Good explanation.
But is it necessary? Should a team that hasn't fouled all quarter be punished like that? I know that's an extreme example and doesn't happen often but still.. I guess I can understand the game being slowed down if a team had '5 fouls to give with 30 seconds' and just kept fouling...but still, i don't think its too fair.

There must be some strategy behind it.
BTW, during game 3 of Sacramento-Minnesota in 2004, Sam Cassell had 4 off-the-ball fouls by himself in the 4th, and one shooting foul. I thought it was very weird reffing, and no one brings that up. Of course, I've only seen that game once, but were I to watch it again, maybe I'd see those calls were legit.
I just think the Kings got a huge break with all of those foul calls, even though they eventually lost the game in OT.
The ending is more memorable, with Stojakovic hitting a game-tying shot in regulation, and with Miller guarding KG at the end of the regulation.

Wow, Stojakovic missed a FT in that stretch too. If the Kings had lost in regulation by 1-2 points, he and Christie would have been blamed, especially since they're normally great FT shooters.
I'm glad there was a good memory of Stojakovic in the playoffs.

Ok IowaSacKing93 (http://kingsforum.net/live/member.php?9-IowaSacKing93), I remember why the rule is the way it is.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hack-a-Shaq#Wilt_Chamberlain_and_the_off-the-ball_foul_rule
Wilt Chamberlain and the off-the-ball foul rule
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7f/Wilt_Chamberlain3.jpg/170px-Wilt_Chamberlain3.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wilt_Chamberlain3.jpg) http://bits.wikimedia.org/skins-1.20wmf1/common/images/magnify-clip.png (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wilt_Chamberlain3.jpg)
Basketball great Wilt Chamberlain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilt_Chamberlain) was a notoriously bad free throw shooter.
Wilt Chamberlain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilt_Chamberlain) was such a great player and dominant force that he would be certain to be on the floor in late-game situations if the score was close. However, he was such a poor free throw shooter (51%) that if the opposition needed to employ intentional fouling late in the game, Chamberlain would always be that team's target. Just as the opposition was eager to send Chamberlain to the free throw line because of his ineptitude there, Chamberlain himself was reluctant to go for that same reason. This led to the spectacle of virtually an entire other game being held away from the ball and almost completely outside of the basketball game being played, as Chamberlain essentially played a de facto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_facto) game of tag (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag_%28game%29) with defenders, attempting to run from and dodge them as they chased him trying to foul him.
The NBA decided to address this undesirable situation by instituting a new rule regarding off-the-ball fouls—that is, committing a personal foul against an offensive player who neither has the ball nor is making an effort to obtain it. The new rule stated that if the defensive team commits an off-the-ball foul within the last two minutes of the game, the offensive team would be allowed to keep possession of the ball after the awarding of either one or two free throws. Since the entire reason for employing intentional fouling as a strategy was to quickly terminate the offensive team's possession, this new rule, when in effect, forced the team using intentional fouling to foul only the offensive player who had the ball. This brought an end to the need for Chamberlain (or any other poor free throw shooter) to play hide and seek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hide_and_seek) with opposing defenders in intentional fouling situations.
The reason they have that rule is that fouling someone off-the-ball looks foolish . . . Some of the funniest things I ever saw were players that used to chase [Wilt Chamberlain] like it was hide-and-seek. Wilt would run away from people, and the league changed the rule based on how silly that looked.

Utah is still getting inside passes, and offensive rebounds. That's why they're still hanging in.
But they're missing some open/semi-open shots. Carroll on that last 3. I guess they're 44% from the field and 3/9 from 3, so nothing terrible. Someone just missed 2 FT's as well.

Yeah, I wanted to watch the last 3, because I didn't think this Utah-SA game was going to be close. But it was pretty close for the first 2.5 quarters.
I guess I'll go late at night today.
I also have problems sleeping in hot weather, and it's getting hot on some random days. So it's better if I do something at 11pm or 12am then just lie in my bed not sleeping.
And the sports talk radio will just be talking about the nfl draft, and I don't want to listen to that. (I sleep with sports radio on most nights.)
Sometimes I'll try to kill time during these times when I can't sleep, by going on the internet or playing MLB The Show, but I'm not really in the mood for that right now.

It's the NFL, they're all going to be talking about the NFL draft. I hate coverage of the NFL draft, because it always overshadows the NBA playoffs.
Maybe after about two days, then sports radio will stick to MLB and NBA playoffs.
TNT's postgame show is the best way to get some coverage about every series IMO.
Yeah, going to the gym will make me hotter, but at least I won't feel so lazy. It's either lie away at 11pm or 1 am thinking about how lazy I am, or do something about it.
Besides, I only go for 30-35 minutes, so I don't go for too long. I do just enough.

Also with drafts, you'll hear things like "value picks", and "Draft Grades".
Those things are better if you only spent 1-2 minutes on them, because you can't take them too seriously. Just because you can't evaluate a draft class until 3-4 years later.
But they'll go on and one about it for 20 minutes.
Even for the NBA Draft, I'll spend 2-3 minutes just reading quick grades for every team, and whether they made the best pick or got what they needed, or could have done more. But I'm not going going to obsess about it for that long.

Yea, 30-35 is good. I haven't gone in a few months, but when I used to go, I would do maybe some warm-up stuff...15 minutes cardio...10 minutes of strength...and then finish with 10-15 cardio again. It wasn't too much that way, and made me want to come back again LOL

I want to see Faried have a big game.
