This was a good game (game 2). I like watching Philly a lot more than Indiana.

Philly isn't very good in defending the interior, but they are good on the perimeter.

Who knew LaVoy Allen would be the one hitting a big shot?

Here's an excerpt from an article explaining the "Show Your Love" thing that Doug Collins does at the end.
++++++++++++++++++++

http://roundballdaily.com/2012/04/12/knicks-cop-huge-win-in-milwaukee-are-they-better-without-amare-stoudemire/

TORONTO — Philadelphia coach Doug Collins had a special request for Lou Williams (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2799/lou-williams) before the 76ers faced the Raptors: Bring back ‘Show your Love.’

Thaddeus Young (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3244/thaddeus-young) scored 17 points, Nikola Vucevic (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/6478/nikola-vucevic) had 12 and the 76ers beat theToronto Raptors (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=tor) 93-75 on Wednesday night, an important victory in their chase of a playoff berth.
Before sending his team out on the floor, Collins asked Williams to share his special, simple message of unity.

“It was something that I came up with last year,” Williams explained. “I was just saying it when guys made a big shot or something, I would say ‘Show some love’ to them and it kind of snowballed from there.”

Collins hadn’t heard it in a while and noticed the sentiment missing from his team’s play, so he decided it was time to reinforce the message.

“Tonight, for the first time in a long time, we did the ‘Show your love,’ ” Collins said. “That, to me, is when we start getting the spirit back of who we are. And when we play with that kind of energy and spirit, we’re a damn good team.”

Rondo drives in and gives Boston the lead. 10-9

Philly is sucking at jumpers again

IowaSacKing93
05-23-2012, 05:22 PM
Both teams settling for too many midrange jumpers.

IowaSacKing93
05-23-2012, 05:28 PM
That's the 3rd or 4th poke away by Philly already. This time Brand pokes it away, tracks it down and finishes.

Philadelphia is playing poorly in the half court but a couple of transition hoops + 2nd chance points, gives them the lead 15-12.

IowaSacKing93
05-23-2012, 05:37 PM

Boston is shooting 30.2% from the field...but they've taken 9 more shots, and are perfect from the FT line. 52-48 Philly

I just feel that Boston will go on a run at some point, and Philly will have a let down (they play with so much energy, but at the same time, that sometimes backfires against them later in the game).

I think they can be similar at times. Neither team has a true star on offense. But Indiana is more capable of scoring 100+ points IMO (maybe that's just because they're playing Miami and Phila is playing Boston)

I still like the potential of Granger, Hibbert and company over Philly's team.

IowaSacKing93

I agree, Indiana has more potential. They have a brighter future.

I just like the way Philly is playing hard right now. With that said, I don't think they can get much better.

I also don't like Darren Collison. I think Philly moves the ball better.

This is OT but I want to ask you a question about Barbosa, nuraman00 (maybe you can answer when the game is over)

But a friend noticed last night that Barbosa seems to be driving more, he seems to be more aggressive, and getting points at the net.

My friend kept saying 'since when does Barbosa drive to the hoop'? I hadn't realized a trend or anything, but do you think this is true?

Also, since Barbosa is getting older, I would assume he would only settle for more and more outside shots. But is he being more aggressive, in general? If so, it is because of the system in Indiana (as opposed to Phoenix or Toronto)?

IowaSacKing93
05-23-2012, 07:30 PM
Nice 1-2 between Holiday and Allen. That's not a set play or anything, just good instincts on both ends.

76-67 under 3.

Barbosa used to drive all the time in Phoenix.

In Toronto, he probably just didn't get those fastbreak opportunities. They don't have the athletes or overall team speed Indy or Phoenix does. And Indy is a better rebounding team, an important factor for Barbosa getting the ball early and having an avenue to drive.

Cool. I've just never watched or centered on Barbosa, when Phoenix used to be good. I just assumed he was a strict 3-point or deep 2-point chucker off the bench. But he does seem to have a decent amount of athleticism, even now.

Barbosa won 6th man of the year just by driving.

Also, if you remember the 2007 Phoenix series against the Lakers, Phoenix won in 5 games, because the Lakers couldn't stop Phoenix's transition offense.

Also, In 2006-2007, you started a "Barbaro :(" thread, and someone posted he thought you were going to post about "the Brazilian guy on Phoenix".

I remember reading the Phoenix board a few years ago. Someone said they ran into Barbosa. He said "Sup". They then asked him something, and he said "Sup".

IMO, if Pierce had Bryant's teammates, he'd have more rings. Pierce is a better defender, and slightly better passer (even though Kobe gets more assists now).

I also think someone like Pierce, Vince Carter, or McGrady are better than Durant, because the former have had better ball handling and passing skills.

The weird thing is: they mentioned the whole Lavoy Allen/Doug Collins thing during tonight's game. They just said that Collins wished he could be as laid back as Allen.

Yeah. And they didn't flinch.

Those are his grandkids.

We've seen a lot of kids at the podium this year. Chris Paul brought his son, and Glen Davis brought his daughter Amari Davis (that was my favorite).

The Doug Collins one is surprising, because I didn't expect him to use that word, given what his train of thought was.

Yeah, It's somewhat surprising that Lou has been on Philly since like 2004...he's only been in the spotlight it seems like..the last 2 or 3 years. I guess he has had a bigger role the last few years too.

But still, guys like that either retire or get traded around or let go in free agency. He stayed with one team for a long time.

I'm watching ep. 4 now. I don't know if I'll watch another after this (it's nothing against the show, I'm still 'warming up' to it, so I just watch one episode in a sitting ,usually).

Rondo fouls Turner on a fast break. Bad foul.

Philly has clanged a lot of shots so far, but with that said, it's still 8-13, with Lou to the line.

Brand turnaround over Bass! He has 8 points and 2 boards.

Lou Williams just made an Iverson-esque move. He made a runner, and got fouled on the attempt!

Iguodala gets fouled. 63-69.

I don't trust Philly's FT shooting though, they've had a lot of bad bricks.

If someone would have predicted Rondo would make a 3 in the 4th quarter of a game 7, they would have won a lot.

If Rondo gets 1 more rebound, we'll have a triple double in a game 7.

The last times there were triple doubles in game 7, was Westbrook in 2011, and Pippen in 1992 against New York.

Congrats to Rondo. He doesn't have a great shot, but he knows how to make a serious impact in a game. Such an Anti Evans

His 3 reminded me of Kirilenko's 3 against Houston in the 2007 game 7.

But, Rondo is even more of an unlikely long shooter than Kirilenko.

Still, Rondo started the scoring burst off by a layup, the kind which I hope Evans would have made, but wouldn't have been surprised if he missed, even though layups are his strength.

Was Holiday as good as his statline? I didn't really notice him.

But he had 15 points, 9 assists, 5 steals, 4 turnovers.

He had a effective night, it was just hard to notice as everyone in both teams defense was tight...or offense sucked...depending on how you look at it. He just lacked any showtime or clutch plays that stood out, but he had a quality performance.

Wouldn't surprise me either, and Evans did miss quite a few layups downlow this year.

So when Rondo made his layup, it was a baseline layup.

When I think of Evans, I think of layups down the middle. Is Evans good at baseline layups? Or can he only make them down the middle?

Hmm, this is a good baseline one, super acrobatic:

Dang, here's another good one:

And another:

Here's a cool feature. All but two of them were down the middle. Only two were baseline:

They compared Tyreke to Ginobili in that video! Cmon Tyreke, make it happen. Take your game to the Ginobili level!

The more I watched Iggy this year, the more I kept seeing Tyreke Evans in him. Such passive games. All around stats, but, they feel so empty at the end of the game. I know Iggy's trying to be more of a better teammate then in past years, but their passive personalities seem to match up.

I like Iguodala on defense. He can have "disappearing" games on offense.

I do too.

Reke has his moments, when he wants to, but he seems to only care when there's a statistical reward at the end of it or a big name challenge.
