    Kings vs OKC Gamethread

    113-103 final.

Game was close after the first quarter. Kings were bent over at various points in the second, third and fourth. Thomas came in during the 4th and went crazy with 23 points in the quarter. The Thunder were forced to bring the big guns in, Thomas cut the game to 5. Jimmer though, despite being fouled on a 3 point attempted, raped the Kings chances at the end. He kept dominating the ball thinking he was the one who was hot, and missed 4 FG chances (mostly bad shots) while dribbling away the clock. Today's FU award goes to Jimmer for that display.

Thomas had a great game statistically(Points only, no assists), but very misleading. Majority of the points came against Thunder's Second team. Cousins has 8 pts in the first and disappeared the rest of the game.(What is happening with this guy?) Plays like an all star for one quarter, then completely sits on the couch for the next 3 quarters.
Smart's post game presser was pathetic! Spoke about how improved the Sac defense has been improved and credit has to be given to the other team(really? giving up an avg of 108 ovethe last 3 is improvement>
Smart also went on to say Isiah did a great job of running the offense in the fourth quarter. Huh? he didnt have a single assist the whole game. he scored 23 inthe fourth quarter in complete garbage time. Westbrook, Durant, Ibaka,Perkins and Sefalosha sat most of the fourth, except for the last 2 minutes when the Kings actually cut the score to 103-98. Tyreke played ok, but disappeared most of the game.

The final score was nowhere indicative of this game. The Kings were getting blown out a majority of it, save the first quarter, only down 3. The Kings scrap back in the fourth when all of Okc's big dogs are on the bench a majority of the fourth.

    Not a surprise, though!

I'm trying to understand what has made Geoff Petrie so enamored with Aaron Brooks all these years.

The guy is painful to watch.

Thomas had a nice offensive explosion, doesn't matter if it was against the second team or not as he didn't even have much of a chance to play against the first team as he played only 3 minutes before. This continued even after Durant/Westbrook/Ibaka came in. I mean the lead did get down from like 18 to 5 with 4 minutes to go so in fairness garbage time got real quick.

You are completely right though, Smart saying that he did a great job running the offense is laughable since it was just a personal display without team involvement. I mean, it was a great display, but he was the sole offense. It was all him, until toward the end he'd pass the ball to Jimmer who then went into hero mode and failed. Heck, Isaiah is averaging only 1 assist per game this season in the time he has got. He does seem to be looking for his own points more than he did last year where I thought he did a good job at making plays.

Agree with you again on the "defense" comment Smart made. The Kings defense has been pathetic. Teams break them down so easy, can get to the rim at will, and get plenty of easy looks. The entire starting line especially fails on defense. Having a nice moment or two doesn't make them a good defensive team.

Brooks is better suited as an energy guy off the bench who can score in spurts. He has never been a play maker or defender. When he isn't scoring he does nothing. He isn't even a shooter that the Kings tried to advertise him as. Scorer yes, shooter no. He has averaged 40% from the field over his career and mid 30%s from 3PT. Those aren't great numbers.
