Apprently no one is being moved and this team is still one of the worse in the league. Way to throw in the flag! For whoever thinks there werent pieces to take adavatge of lets take a look. The Kings shoulda pulled the trigger on a Tyreke Evans deal for Rondo. Stephan Jackson for Jefferson???? WHo wants a scrub in Jackson? Why couldnt we give up a Salmons for Jefferson which is an upgrade at our SF. WHy couldnt we get involved for a Nene, or MaGee? I think Portland got a hell of a deal with Okur and a top 8 draft pick IMO but I woulda loved to land him. Anyone for Crawford?? I mean Gasol was available too and im sure La woulda like a Thompson and Jimmer for Gasol. I heard only thinking stopping it was they didnt want to throw in any picks but they did anyhow to get Sessions, n Jordan Hill. Glad to see everyone trying to make improvements except the Kings that look like there content with losing. Time to look forward to the draft once again for 4 yrs straight. Yay to be a Kings fan!

Petrie will not be let go,,,Why? The Magoofs don't care either... They are not going to pay another GM and they don't care about bringing a championship to Sac. Please, for the love of God, sell this team. Petrie and the Magoofs have picked up so much garbage in the past couple of years.. Petrie needs to be dumped, but not because of no deadline deals. No moves are better than junk moves. Nene was offered for Cousins, Ellis for Tyreke, overpaid expiring Boston scrubs for Hickson. No way in hell should any of those be made.

Unless something quality came around that made sense for the future they are just as well waiting for the offseason to make a deal. They will pick up the 5th year option of JT, and will still be able to deal him. They could pick up Hicksons option or let him walk...which is just as good as moving him for an expiring. Tyreke should be traded in a deal that gives them a legit talent back, so waiting for the offseason gives them time to explore deals. Those are really the only players that are moveable. The first round pick will have much more value at the draft when its no longer conditional, and teams know what slot it'll be choosen at.

Plus most of the deals that happened today are pretty blah. Mostly overpaid contracts and ding dong players exchanging hands. None of those would benefit the Kings.

I believe we do need a new GM. It's time Petrie grew a par. Yes those were trash offers but other teams get things done and get good deals for lesser talent. Seems like other GM's are just trying to push Petrie around, as if he lacks any respect around the league

Well first off, if Petrie Grew a pair, he'd have 4 balls. That's way too much testosterone for someone in a decision making position. Second, he's also from Princeton right?? Princeton people know how to keep a job and Petrie knows that one good way to get fired is by making a dumb move. It's harder to fire someone who makes no moves at all.

There is a huge amount of luck to being a GM, no person is a given, you're always rolling the dice. The more money you have, the more likely you can get stars on your team, but even then it's not a given. Look at NY.

If the Kings won all the time, there would be a lot more of us and we'd all be as mindless as Laker fans. So for that reason, I'm glad the kings aren't #1 all the time. It would be nice if they weren't #30 all the time, but at least it makes the draft fun (fun to also get unlucky in).

I know Hickson isn't very popular, but, he still is 23 and chances are, he'll be of more use to the Kings than a second round draft, not to mention the crappy salary you'd be forced to take back in that type of deal since no team near the tax is going to add salary.

If he had a perfect deal for either of them, he'd have taken it no doubt - but it just wasn't there.

Nobody wants our garbage - and when you trade garbage, you just get different garbage in return. No player traded today would have been of value to the Kings. GWall is an injury risk at nearing the end of his career.

Then guys that were rumored of interest like Batum (never really any shot at that) and Jordan Crawford (they traded Nick Young AWAY to get Crawford starting minutes) weren't ever really possible without massive overpays.

It's his fault the Kings are in this situation, the poor contracts/players like Garcia and Salmons, but the only players anybody wanted on this team were Evans and Cousins (and Hickson to a slighter degree) and all three were only desired if they were at EXTREME discounts.

I mean, crap, the deals offered (more or less) were Jermaine O'Neal-ish contracts for JJ Hickson, Reke for Monta or Nene for DeMarcus. Why would we want any of them?

Yep, and two big notes.

1) There are more buyers during the offseason and more time to get things done than during the trade deadline.

2) Assets like JT, Hickson, Tyreke whom teams might actually want will still be available to trade during the offseason. JT/Hickson have options. JT will have his picked up. Hickson might or might not...wouldn't cost much to take it if they do. Tyreke is under the team's possession for 2 years. That gives the team enough time to work out future deals.

my point has nothing to do with the Wins and Losses. Petrie is excellent when it comes to drafting. But i have to believe that there isn't much respect out there by other GM's around the league for Petrie.

I get why Petrie didn't make any moves this year. Even if we got expiring contracts (actually i was thinking to myself what is the point of that extra cash in the offseason if we aren't going to use it so gin a big time FA). So that leaves us with nothing really out there. We didn't need Ray Allen, and not at the price the Celtics wanted. Would i have liked to get Batum, yes but it seems Portland traded G-Wall to make time for him to play

Kings will have essentially the most money to throw at Batum, if they so desire and given his agent's comments - I don't think he's exactly thrilled with a Portland return (at least not right now).

I like Batum - but I question how much the Maloofs would throw at the guy. From a cap standpoint, it's no big deal - you amnesty Garcia or Salmons (Salmons would be the better financial choice) but Maloofs still have to pay the amnesty so...

There wasnt tallent out there? ALmost everybody was moveABLE ON every team. (Josh Smith,Rondo,Howard,Batum,) I understand the rarity of getting those players but we werent even mentioned. Atleast show ur willing to change being a crappy team every yr. I mean come on now the Warriors shook it up and were even in the Dwight sweepstakes for a little bit. If Petrie knew anything on trades he woulda been able to sale our players. He has to be better than a car sales man right? Im sure for Josh Smith u give up our 1st and tyreke and hell ill throw in any SF of there choice. Im just saying we could have made something happen and def with alot of teams in panic mode. u wanna talk about having a poker face? This is where every gm should be trying to come up cause they know alot of players can be moved and u get alot of 3rd teams to make things happen too. Alot easier than in the offseason IMO. Plus Say Tyreke just went down with another busted ankle and needs surgery after last nights fall? His value just drop majorly and u think they try to offer us Rondo or Ellis for him? For this being a "stacked" draft is Sg,Sf,Pf ( from wat i heard) Then why dont get into cash considerations for picks. I saw someone buy a 2nd round pick? Wy cant we do that then package say 3-4 2nd rounders for another 1st round pick? Point being there was so much we could to not doing nothing at all shows how much they care in trying to turn this thing around. Heres to more losses hoping we fall to one of the 3rd worst teams in the league.

Why would you want to give up a pick for Barbosa though? He wasn't going to make any difference for the Kings. A second round pick for the Kings, given the fact it'll be in the low 30's, is more valuable to the Kings long-term than a two month rental of Barbosa.

Rondo wasn't available for anything but a bonafide, young superstar. The very things we don't have. Batum was hardly available, is nearing the end of his deal, and Portland wanted a Melo like haul. Howard never wanted to be here. Smith has an expiring contract next year. If he isn't happy in Atlanta, he probably won't be in Sacramento where they team stinks. He'd eat up all the cap space, and isn't a #1 player. Very solid player, but doesn't compare to #1s in the league.

Saying to trade Tyreke because he can get a serious long term injury??? Serious..you can say that about anyone. You don't trade out of paranoia, unless there is a long standing history such as what K-mart had. Then again, how many games has Martin missed since leaving Sacramento? The Kings have 2, yes 2 years to trade Tyreke in a deal that isn't a knee jerk reaction to the current situation.

Lastly, how many teams trade second rounders for 1st rounders? This isn't football or hockey. Teams have little to no value in second round picks as the great majority never make it in the league. Unless you are trading something like the 31st, 32, 35 pick for the 29th pick it just will not happen. Thats why teams sell second rounders...they don't care for them.
