How successful do you think Jimmer Freddete can or will be?

What is your opinion on the potential of Jimmer Fredette. I think this guy is going to be a very important piece in the offense of the kings. Personally, I'm really hoping he lives up to the hype and scores BIG points. And also prove the ney-seyers wrong by playing some defense.

I would be crushed if he ended up disappoiting. Because we missed out on Kemba Walker and Brandon Knight.

I see the majority of the Kings on Twitter (Evans, Cousins, Greene, Thompson) working on their games. I see Jimmer..........watching BYU football with his cheerleader girlfriend. lol

it all depends if he improves on his defense and passing game. he could be a legitimate starter or end up being a 6th man like jr smith who can come off the bench and shoot lights out on occasions.

So he goes to a few football games on a couple of given Saturdays...that means he's not working on his game?

Realistically? I'm thinking Tony Delk, although I'd love to be proven wrong.

Agreed. Can't be worse than something that doesn't exist.

I don't even know what to think of Jimmer yet. I just know he has a lot of work to do, and he might be too focused on his "fun times" to fix those issues. Its like Greene asking Jimmer to play in the exhibition game this month, but noting Jimmer might be too busy. Too busy doing things completely unrelated to basketball sadly. I want him to succeed as long as he wears a Kings uniform, but after watching Beno, Pooh, and Bibby suck it up on defense I'd like for him to be more than a one-dimensional scorer.

You do realize he works out at the Marriott center with his trainer, right. To answer the OP, he'll be as good as Stephen Curry or better. There, I said it, rail on me now.

dwckings85 posted this scout's take on Bibby, especially his defense, during 2006-2007. The scout's analysis is from 1998. This was a UC Berkeley scout who was scouting Arizona players.

It ended up being true in the NBA.

I didn't see Bibby enough to give a full scouting report, but I do have a couple of observations. I heard the comment several times last year that Bibby's game had matured with regard to running a team. That fits with what I saw. His assist total didn't jump much, but Arizona's style didn't lend itself to one player piling up assists. Bibby improved a bit in almost every important category from an excellent freshman season, and adding 4 ppg while increasing your shooting percentage is a nice step forward.

What astonished me when I watched Bibby play California is how bad he was at defending the dribble. Over the past two years, Cal has had four guys playing point--Prentice McGruder and Anwar McQueen shared the spot in 96-97 while Raymond King and Thomas Kilgore split time there in 97-98. Three of those guys could drive past Bibby at will. Only McQueen didn't, and he rarly tried to drive at all. I realize that I didn't watch nearly enough games to come to solid conclusion, but if what I saw was any indication, every NBA point guard better than John Crotty will light up Bibby in the early part of Bibby's career.

lol, I was half joking about Jimmer.

But, much like Spencer Hawes, there are guys that love the game and guys that play it because they've always been good given their talent level. Not saying that's the case for Jimmer, but, when you see guys like Honeycutt and Thomas working their ass off and Jimmer baking cakes, well...

I just don't know if he gets that it wont be BYU any longer. Like Maniac said - he seems way too focused on other things.

Are we REALLY questioning jimmer fredette's work ethic guys? I'm not one of the suddenly abundant jimmer homers (BYU fans) on here, but saying that jimmer has been anything less than an incredibly hard worker his entire life is false. The only difference between Jimmer's routine this off season and guys like honeycutt and thomas is that Anywhere Jimmer goes he's recognized and in lot's of cases put on TV, written into articles, etc. That's just what comes with being a celebrity unfortunately.

I'm not saying he hasn't been a hard worker - but he clearly seems preoccupied with non-basketball related activities right now. And given the circumstances, it seems pretty odd to me.

I just don't want another Spencer Hawes scenario. Tools wise, Hawes was gifted - but he wanted to be elsewhere. Like a political rally.

Have you told him to go to Oakland and join in their protest rallies?
