Also, I would suggest a "5 minute rule" in the future. If your scheduled guest doesn't call within 5 minutes of the assigned time, and you have another live caller, take the caller.

I feel really bad for him. Because not only did you tell him you can't talk, but you also said "not sure what that was" right after you hung up.

I think you should have said something like "I'd love to take your call but I scheduled Chris LeFlore to call in right now, please call back after him."

You didn't give him a reason why you couldn't talk. It went like this:

"I'd love to talk about the NFL. Can I talk?"

"Not right now."

The number is available on Blog Talk Radio's website though. I see it every time I stream your show.

I'll re-listen to the segment and see if I think it seems like he was trying to pump his show.

Even if he was, I think it's a sort of "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" type of thing. If you were to let him on, he would promote your show on his show in the future, or he would ask you to be a guest caller, etc.

Ok, you are right, he did have his own show. He said he also had a podcast on Blog Talk Radio.

But, as I mentioned previously, I think establishing a relationship like this would help you get a bigger audience. He comes on your show, he then has you on his show, and you can reach his audience too. Some of them will also like your show, and you'll get more listeners that way.

What do you think?

I think having listeners call in would make it better too, but it's your call on the format. I also think that since your show is only 30 minutes, there might not be enough time for you to get to everything you want to get to, and still take callers.

Or to PM you, etc.?

Maybe say something like "Jeff, you called into my Blog Talk Radio show Three For The Win on 12/15/2012, please call back next time or DM me."

But I only lurk on your Twitter, not anyone elses. Not even from people who I chat with through other means, and who have been begging me to get on Twitter.

It's worth a shot, IMO. You never know, he might be reading it.

Think about it this way. Not all of the people that have listened to you in the past follow you from Twitter, right? Some of them may have found out about it through other means, and subsequently randomly checked your Twitter, right?
