Every shop window is barrel-leg trousers and every feed is the clean girl aesthetic (slick bun, gold hoops, beige everything). I like both and I am scared of both. How do you take the idea without buying the whole costume?
Barrel-leg jeans and the "clean girl" look: how do you wear the trend without looking like a costume?

Salon chair perspective, because I hear this weekly.
Barrel leg: the shape does the talking, so keep everything else quiet. A fitted or tucked top, a shoe with some structure (loafer, clean trainer, ankle boot), and a length that ends at the ankle bone. The costume happens when the trousers are wide, the top is wide and the shoes are chunky all at once. Buy one pair in a dark rinse before the fun colours; it will survive the trend.
Clean girl: it is really three things: healthy skin, tidy hair, simple metal. The skin part is skincare and sleep, not makeup; the hair part is a good cut and a bit of shine product on a low bun or a smooth ponytail; the jewellery is small hoops and one ring. Everything else (the beige, the specific bag) is optional. The mistake is buying the props before doing the basics.
And the general rule for any trend: take one element you actually love, wear it with the things you already own, and see if it survives a month. If it does, buy the second piece. If it does not, you spent very little finding out.
